No. Birthright citizens are those born in the US to parents who are not citizens. Neither parent is a citizen in that case. If you have one parent who's a citizen you're a citizen.
It depends on which view you of the Rights take on birth right citizenship you want to take. With Obama they claimed because his father wasn't a citizen he wasn't a citizen even though his mother was. So with Trumps kids that would be the opposite.
Yeah, but they're white so it's all right. If Trump and the Republicans could they would codified into law that only white people born in America can be American citizens.
Okay, maybe I’m crazy, maybe it’s just because I only have US citizenship because my mother is a US citizen (I wasn’t born in the US, Dad isn’t from the US). You are a US citizen if one of your parents is a US citizen. Am I missing some context for this or is this just misleading rage bait?
No. All his children have US citizenship because HE is (and was) a US citizen, regardless of their respective mothers’ citizenship, or where they were born.
If any of their mothers had foreign citizenship at the time of their births, they too may also have foreign citizenship.
This account won’t repost your material but fully expects you to support them. This is fucking nonsense. I’m going to rip the ground from underneath all these accounts searching for followers. You will repost. You will understand. You will find yourself to where I’m saying you are. Watch me!
For those of you who I deem clueless, which is most of you, you are listening and taking notes. If you think you’re entitled to get angry, you aren’t. I don’t want to hear your drivel. If I do, I’ll break you down and wear you as the prize while I humiliate you.
I think they said at least one parent should be a us citizen. Then again who knows if what is said today will change tomorrow with this administration.
1/2 If Ivana was a US Citizen prior to birth they were automatically US Citizens (if she was US Citizens living in the US at the time of birth). So we also have to list the documents: US Passport vs. "Green Card" (Permanent Resident Card aka Alien Registration Receipt Card, or Form I-551).
2/2 Green Card Moms have to have their children naturalized after they become US Citizens. Then there are "US Citizens Born Abroad" like me, John McCain and my brother. We are also Naturalized US Citizens because Mom was a US Citizen when we were born in West Germany (yes we are that old..._)
OK stop now everybody please. The "birthright citizenship" Trump is trying to eliminate is for US born children of any parentage. That's just one kind of birthright citizenship. Trump's kids would be eligible anyway even if born outside the US bc he is a citizen.
The INA traditionally had slightly kinder citizenship rules for children of unwed US citizen mothers given that they only had one parent. As Republicans are fixing to take food stamps away from young children of single mothers, I suppose they will get around to eliminating this provision also.
It was a malicious misinterpretation of the term "natural-born citizen". You are right, he naturally acquired citizenship at birth through his mother regardless. Ted Cruz actually was born abroad, in Canada, to a US citizen mother. Somehow Republicans didn't care about that when he was running.
Birthright citizenship’s an issue cuz of 🤡🍊’s history of xenophobia. 🤡🍊 himself’s son of naturalized American mom. Remember his pursuit of Obama’s birth certificate? And, 🍊🤡’s 2 foreign- born wives, 4 of his kids’ moms, weren’t yet citizens when they were born but 🤡🍊 was.
Unless you immigrated, got a visa, paid a huge amount of money, took the test & oath, etc. you're a birthright citizen. That's where most US citizenship comes from. Their long term plans are to revoke the citizenship of everyone they declare to be un-American, ie. disloyal to the regime.
What about the orange conman himself? Wasn’t his mother an immigrant? Also, given that his paternal grandfather was a German immigrant, how does that work?
“Birthright citizenship” is a misnomer. Every human gains some sort of citizenship by being born. They can gain it by “jus soli” (being born in a country that grants citizenship to all born on its soil) and/or “jus sanguinis” (having a parent or parents with citizenship). The U.S. has both.
All but Tiffany were born to non-citizen mothers. But all of the kids were born here so like everyone born here (except kids born to foreign diplomats) they are birthright citizens. Unless SC decides the Immunity decision wasn’t stupid enough & think they can top it. Like, “Immunity…hold our beer.”
Here is the conundrum, the Right claimed Obama wasn't a citizen because his father wasn't, even though his mother was. It's just a misogynist view of which parent is controlling of determining citizenship. Trump is a citizen by birth, 2 of 3 of his wives were Soviet citizens.
AND, Obama was born in the US, Fatso from Mag-a-Lardo claimed he wasn't. The Magadonians all claimed Obama wasn't born in HI. But they don't care that Rafael "Felito"Cruz was born in Canada, raised in Canada when his father wasn't a US citizen & his mother and father both claimed 2 be Canadians.
I'm really confused by this. If SCOTUS rules in Trump's favor, don't his children lose their citizenship? Why would he want that? Does he think he could still wave a magic wand and make them citizens?
Technically, ALL of them are. Even the fifth Beatle, Tiffany - is a citizen because of birth. It's a thing that impacts every single US citizen, and them trying to get rid of something that is a constitutional right is every bit as stupid as it is dangerous and impossible.
Technically; according to his 'new' definition - they'd still be citizens because he (the father) was a citizen. Now - I don't know the citizenship status of HIS parents when he was born - does their 'new' criteria still apply?
No because all four are the child of one American citizen. The 14th amendment refers to people born on US soil. The Immigration and Nationality Act also provides for children of citizens to get citizenship by right, with some restrictions. So they'd be US citizens regardless of place of birth.
