There's an American loudly arguing with the Heathrow security team because he froze his drink into ice to get his drink through airport security screening and he's literally screaming "ICE IS A SOLID" over and over again.

So weird that they had to make a special rule about hummus. Some how that feels racially targeted since it’s an ethnic food that is getting a specific call out..,,
that's because TSA in the US allows 100% frozen liquids. and depending on your supervisor, sometimes just regular liquids. americans should only have to follow some american rules some of the time. it's like you don't understand american nationalism 🙄
My dad once got whale meat through US customs - he declared it properly and was kinda expecting to be stopped, but the guy was just "whale? so like, fish" repeatedly, and dad just said "uh, I guess so?" and got waved through.
So that American might've had it work before, is my point.
technically you're correct in saying this but i say it depends on context. if your arguing with someone, gramatically is the most annoying. if you're entire highground is grammatical then their a douchebag
Reminds me of the time I was flying EasyJet and a man with considerable effort stuffed his pack in the metal crate to show it fit the dimensions for free luggage. And then couldn't get it out. Hugely entertaining.
He has a point.
I was stopped once with a tub of 200g of skin ointment.
I said it’s not a liquid.
Security said it would be if it was heated up.
I replied so would you.
That was probably not my best answer at that time and place….😳
I had a container of peanut butter confiscated as a “liquid” once. I guess I don’t know exactly where the line is between liquid and solid, but peanut butter holds its shape, so….
I’ve flown with pie dough twice now (Thanksgiving and Christmas, visiting my aunt and uncle who no longer have the equipment to make it at their place), and the first time, it was tested for explosives, etc., and was very suspicious until I explained that it was pie dough. Then all good. Um what???
I used travel a lot around July 7th, usually with a big laptop bag and handbag. After, Heathrow started insisting you could only have one bag. No size limit, so I'd carry a bin bag in my handbag, put both into the bin bag until I'd passed the checkpoint.
The airlines didn't care about a handbag and a laptop bag. The security screeners needed everything separated anyway. The only people who wanted "one bag" were the airport staff in special t-shirts who were told to insist. I used do it in front of them.

I suspect hummus wasn’t on any original list but kept coming up as a travel snack and was just disambiguated.
If frozen liquid items are partially melted, slushy, or have any liquid at the bottom of the container, they must meet 3-1-1 liquids requirements.
My favorite ruling is that pies and cakes are allowed. Power move, that.

1. With the bartender who just cut you off
2. With any cop on the side of the road
3. Airport fucking security.
You are 100% not going to win any arguments here.
Masterful gambit, sir

(TSA does allow frozen things because they are solid.)
