I agree with looking at your local resources before planting. The hardiness zone can be the same but there’s a big difference in the climate. For example, I’m in the same hardiness zone as someone that’s 3 hours away, but they are always 5-10 degrees warmer. Online searches are not always reliable.

I’m getting mixed info, some say yes but at you’re more at risk of cabbage white butterfly and bolting so it’s best to sow them in the autumn for an early spring harvest without the risk of cabbage white butterfly decimating everything.

surely netting them and keeping them in a shady spot is ok?

this would’ve been my plan initially but I moved allotments so the ground isn’t ready for anything yet, my planting calendar is a bit out of whack right now hence the confusion
