Despite being quite present on there still, I hope it crashes and burns now. He’s contaminated the entire platform and I feel kind of dirty now whenever I use it.
It’s frustrating when you see something on there you feel is important to share here. Peter retweeted a video of Brittany Kaiser confirming that Mercer was involved in both Leave campaigns, and that Remain was also approached but declined the offer as “they were going to win anyway.”
As I've said to others, Miffy, the only way to manage here is lists. Create your lists, pin them to your Home page and check them every day, otherwise it's a just a big swamp where you can't find your friends.
When he bought twitter it was never about $ or users.
He, and his backers, cared little for $ or users.
It was simply a vehicle, infested with bots, to influence stupid voters.
Game Over
Tesla's not looking too brilliant either. It seems increasingly like an incredibly divisive over promising CEO maybe isn't the best for business after all
Yeah but look at what the Trump regime now have? A larger than life weirdo who no one can work with and he’s just one of then. I truly believe that the Trump experience is the only thing that can educate the masses about Global Warming and human decency but lives will be lost.
Agreed. I can't see it ending well as too many competing factions want the ear of magemperor. Without money musk wouldn't be tolerated. Bannon for one is on a different trajectory, which either comes to a head or one gets silenced. Sadly whatever happens there will be too much collateral damage
TRUMP’s the word “don't know what word in the English language-I can't fine one-applies to people who are willing to sacrifice the literal existence of organized human life so they can put a few more dollars into highly stuffed pockets. The word 'evil' doesn't even begin to approach it.
~ Noam Chomsk
But it’s not about the money: "Over the last few months, we’ve witnessed the power of X in shaping national conversations and outcomes," Musk wrote in the email.
Trouble is Twitter has become the largest spreader of disinformation/ misinformation making it difficult to pick out fact from propaganda. This was likely one of Musk’s intentions - to propel chaos. So the argument to stay on the platform is weak and plays into the hands of the chaos king.
It’s not about the money until they have to start putting their hands in their own pockets. They’re fine wasting other people’s money but they really hate spending their own.
The Twitter takeover was primarily about using it as a tool to do the widespread harm and damage necessary to leverage the position he and the other tools now have.
It's still $40Billion flushed down the toilet, that the banks are now desperate to sell off & recoup some of their money.
Also there's a knock on effect that in future the banks will treat any request by him to borrow more money by only offering much higher interest rates
I thought his user base was shrinking rather than stagnant. I'm actually beginning to feel hopeful that reality may hit some of this tribal-authoritarian world quicker than expected; they can't reshape humanity writ large in their own image. People don't have to use their products.
Yet the ultimate money making goal that made him buy Twitter was achieved. He bought Tw. for having influence over voters, that's the ultimate profit. Look at him now.
2. The return on his investment cannot be measured this way. If I had to guess, this was the ABSOLUTELY BEST INVESTMENT of his life, as well as Vlad's.
Meh, zoom out to more than 5 days & the stock is still near all time highs.
The stock swings wildly this is a blip, thankfully the sum of its parts is much more than the increasingly batshit, increasingly part time CEO. Baffling the board hasn’t ousted him yet, it’s not like they need him anymore.
Maybe having a very politically divisive CEO who gets his kicks from the adulation of getting on stage & promising all sorts of wonderful things that never come to pass, is finally being realised by the investment community
With Musk it's more the Steve Jobs syndrome. He's a compulsive pleaser ie He gets off on going on stage, promising something amazing, like flying cars, getting applause & adulation, but it never comes to pass.
At least Jobs actually had the thing in his hand when he announced it
Which is what a large part of Musk's wealth is based on ie theoretical value & confidence of the investing community. Once that confidence is lost then the value plummets

Have you actually reached out directly to Bluesky about legibility?
They seem fairly proactive about site improvements.
Ok, I’m aware I’m expressing real disappointment here. In a fluidity fascist kinda way.
Let’s entertain fascism. Yay!
Won’t blame you if you block me but I’ve heard too many contorted views for propping up fascist propaganda
Love to Beryl x

There was no plan behind that.

Leak on!
It's about the power.
with Trump having the potential to give him much more in Space X contracts and Tesla subsidies/tariffs on competitors, it kind of is about the money.
The loss on Twitter is tiny in comparison to what he could gain from having Trump on side.

Cripple his platform. Render it useless. It's the only way barring sanctions imo.
It might also shake up Zuckerberg.
It's YOU being on there who are making it the 'largest public information platform!' 🤔
Leave it to the intelligence community to surveille, that's all.
It was about getting Trump elected
Now it's just another version of Truth social
Also there's a knock on effect that in future the banks will treat any request by him to borrow more money by only offering much higher interest rates
With all the money he's paying his blue tick shills and bot farms, I'd say it's a massive loss.

"Every tweet now is just followed by bot replies."
Why are we supporting Musk whilst he is actively trying to undermine democracy in UK and Germany?

And let's compare to #Bluesky
