PROTIP: it’s only a shepherd’s pie if you make it with lamb or mutton. If it’s made with beef, it’s a cottage pie.
Anyway: I made a cottage pie. When you make yours, make sure you drag a fork all through the mashed potatoes before it goes in the oven, so you get crispy little ridges.

.... the more you know.
(I've only tried one of them and it was waaaaaay too salty.)
Parmesan and garlic salt in the mash is like a cheat code.
(I believe the Sondheim Exception permits calling it a “shepherd’s pie” regardless of filling if it is peppered with actual shepherd on top.)
It's just stonkin'.
If pork, a pig pie.
If horse, a stable pie.
If gator, a bayou pie.
If human, a buddy pie.
2: that looks fantastic.
It looks absolutely delicious!

I must try to make one. Any recommendations on recipe?
I make mine with a mix of stew beef and lamb. I guess it’s a shepherd’s cottage pie. 😉
