Every time I go to work I have to carry two fire extinguishers with me (one for my commute in and the other for my commute home) because of all the fire.
I seriously had family that lived in Missouri call us during the pandemic to make sure we were okay since βthe news saidβ that Portland was a disaster and antifa was burning it down and then wouldnβt believe us when we said it wasnβt.
I made fun of the idea of having Nascar zipping about the city because it sounded like SUCH a ridiculous waste of money but apparently a bunch of Nascar fans DID realize that the city wasn't literally smoldering wreckage and actually has stuff to do and see.
My dad likes to joke about all the gun violence we're in constant danger of but frankly I was under more threat by drunk out-of-season hunters in the woods near our house than I am by hand guns. The first time my kid heard a gun was while visiting them.
My Mom has lived in North Carolina for over 75 years, but she is still a proud Chicagoan. She was born across the street from the World's Fair (not just the fairgrounds, the fair itself).
