Afaik the only thing that's ever happened on threads is James Gunn announced some stuff on there while he was briefly using it as his personal twitter, it's never been a real platform.
3 Days ago i just scheduled my Instagram account for deletion. I would have deleted my Facebook account long time ago had my colleagues not been only there. This Zuck guy keeps sounding like a professional vampire.
Reminds me of that 4chan screenshot of Gabe Newell with the text "Does nothing. Competition keeps shooting themselves in the foot. What is this business tactic called?"
And now with Zuckerberg new stand on "Free Spech", he's trying to make a discount version of Elon Musk's Twitter (I refuse to call it X). What a sick joke!
I loved it at first, it was a fun light-hearted and entertaining algorithm. But now it's just another Republican billionaire playground. I'll be leaving the platform.
Exactly. He could have built a platform that took lessons from the platforms that came after Facebook. A modern platform. He took all the wrong lessons.
Threads was okay but suffered immediately for being very American corporate. You could feel it was very sanded down reality. Very sterile and lacking full humanity (tho at the time Twitter had so many porn bots in the replies of random posts it was good that threads was safe to open on the bus!)
The amount of “Hey I just got a new job/baby/house” tweets with random dick pics from bots in the Twitter replies this time last year on Twitter was not the best experience to risk opening it in public.
Honestly its a little reassuring to see people come to this conclusion before becoming too invested. I was always worried about my refuge from Twitter being a Meta platform (FB feed is ruined) and true to form they quickly ruined the feed on Threads. I want to see who I follow, is that so hard?
It's already getting worse by the day there. After I left Twitter I went to Threads before Bluesky and they seemed equal at the time. Now Threads feels like the worst parts of Facebook but in a Twitter format.
It's not for you, it's for them, so they can keep 'engagement' up when all the humans leave. Shareholders don't care if the system is an ourobouros of AI bots talking to AI bots, as long as money is made.
Its crazy how over the last half decade Zuck has really had a glow up and ya almost start trusting him again for a second... and then he manages to remind you what he's really about in such a short time.
Well he and many other tech bros are politically aligning themselves further to the right now as well. Not a lot of hope for Zuck or others at this point.
Astronomical fumble on his part ay. I was so committed to trying to make threads work man, but the past week was just the final straw. I just felt like I was back on Twitter again and it's only going to get worse, so I deleted it for good. This app seems a lot better than the last time I used it

I am probably biased but I can't think of any reason that would be beneficial to a conversation on social media.
