Didn’t do Next Fest but other events last year were underwhelming compared to when we were in events with Ring of Pain (2019-20), even though Winnie’s Hole has accrued wishlists faster overall and the demo has better retention.
Noticeably different now. Much more challenging to get surfaced.
I have done a couple next fests now. The first one I saw explosive growth of a few hundred in the first couple days, but the second NF I only saw a few hundred over the course of the entire thing. I blame my own skills and the genres I picked for this mostly.
They have been growing so massively! I am glad to see it but also with my last NF, I wasn't even in the top 30 pages of games. Stood zero chance of being seen.
+312 on the 24th, (actually had better results from a few prior online news features). Been comfortably over 20k for a while now, but I was hoping for a bit better results from NextFest. I suspect big NextFest gains are now a thing of the past for most games unfortunately. How about you?
We aren't in this one. Last year we got 500 for RS2 for the first week. Can't actually remember what we got on day one, but fewer than you I expect. Someone else said day 1 was 50% of their week, if that helps set expectations.
I have had a lot more luck running my own beta test groups from interested peeps on socials.
Your Next Fest Demo has to be REALLY POLISHED to catch attention and by the sounds of it, the popular ones are the ones people were already interested in.
74, which is our biggest day to date, with 46 people playing and a median playtime of 15 mins. Fairly small in comparison but if the numbers stay around that for the event I won't complain
Cool, thanks for sharing. That seems OK, hope the whole week is good too. We found that we got a lot of installs. Unsure if bots or collectors or both.
Hmm. Seeing how the traffic to the page as the Steam Page was first created was about 90% bots... I suspect lots of bots :D bots of dissapointment. Hopefully it evens out with real users as the Fest progresses.
Only got the Steam page up last week and had about 35 wishlists going in, so started extremely cold. Currently at about 260. I think I've done okay considering the algo will not be be favouring me at all. Ideally would have set up sooner and done a later Nextfest, but circumstances not ideal! 😅
Interestingly about 1.4k have added the demo to their library but only 105 have actually played it. Not sure yet how that's going to pan out or how those library adds might convert to wishlists as players do (or don't) get around to playing.
Sometimes you read about a demo away from your PC and all you have is the Steam app on the phone 😅 But steam doesn’t actually show that on top of the recent games in library (like if you just added an actual game), so I tend to forget…

So, same thing as the rest of Steam.
Yeah agreed curated events can be great and of course you don't even need a demo!
