Thank you! It is absolutely essential to be eloquent about the lawlessness of Trump at every opportunity. It is important to frame the debate in simple terms that lay people can understand even if the courts unlikely to rein in this thuggery.

Much of the public has no idea how our system works--separation of powers, legal recourse, etc. If a lawyer were to clearly & concisely explain what Const. Articles & statutes have been violated, who has standing to sue, & the cause of action, voters wld know who to put public pressure on. (1/2)

Also, do gov't employees charged w/ protecting Treasury, et al, systems, have to accede to lawless commands from the Treasury Sec? If not, where are the lawyers w/ Constituional law backgrounds who cld advise the employees to poss demand a court order to follow illegal orders.🛑

I wonder if illegal conduct by the administration will be carried out under cover of legal opinions written by rogue lawyers. Like with Jeff Clark, Rudy Guiliani, Eastman, .., disbarment proceedings may be more effective than criminal law to make lawyers accountable.

Sadly, most Americans are detached from what the government does unless it directly affects them. Yes, a lot of what Trump/Musk are doing is illegal, but a detached citizenry is not in a position to object, and the Democrats so far are all talk, no action. We're in trouble.

the details of the compromise of OPM are mind-exploding. A private server set up in a conf room with access to everyone’s personal information? Why are journalists not asking about any of this of elected officials, and reporting on TV? Biggest data breach in US history & clearly illegal.

It's not just a matter of writing/talking. If a Federal court could and did issue a stay of the "freeze," why can't that same court order a stay of the invasion of OPM/Social Security, return to status quo ante. I would hope this is on the docket for tomorrow.

Using law to try to impose order on this administration is one good technique. But it can’t be the primary one in a world where (a) administration and world’s richest man are lawless & (b) they hold levers of economic and military power. Collective action is only impactful lever moving fast enough.

There’s another problem you didn’t address here. Many of the actions Trump is taking violate the law, but those laws do not include private rights of action. Only the Government (DoJ in court) has the ability to enforce many of these laws and it’s clear that Trump’s DoJ is not going to do so.

For almost ten years “the law” has been quoted ad nausaem
as the counter to Trump’s malfeasance. The Law has proven to be impotent. The corrosive effects of corruption, over decades, has critically weakened the foundation of democracy. Trump is the bright shining object but the problem is systemic.
