It strikes me that someone telling a pollster they are undecided is usually making a statement about how they view the quality of the choice they will be making on Election Day, rather than actually describing what they will actually do.
I frequently exaggerate my poll responses in order to push the results toward my desired outcome. Poll results are propaganda tools so we should use them as such. Am I “extremely optimistic” about Harris? No, but say I am so that the poll results show low info voters that she’s exciting people.
A lot of polls don't show a growing gender gap among young people. The latest Pew poll, with a larger than usual sample size, doesn't show any gender gap at all among 18-34, which seems implausible in the opposite direction.
There’s one line about Rogan almost endorsing Sanders & I think that’s a big part of it. What liberalism is offering is only loss to young men. No material improvements for workers (because N.America is so anti-communist) but they also lose their unearned perches atop gender and racial hierarchies.
Absolutely, but I think there’s something to how all the “How to get ahead/start a business” content now pushes fascism.
Got a friend in a bad work situation who listens to this stuff and is afraid to apply for better because he does not have the “warrior mentality” to succeed. It messes people up.
-groan- I know a rather credulous young man who fortunately is pulling away from the "manosphere" but had been taking in a lot of terrible advice. evidently masturbation saps your ability for "the real thing" and can even shrink your penis. yep.
He comes into the office, “grinds” for 10 hours without break, and complains about how his coworkers don’t work as hard as him and that he’s not getting rewarded for it by his employer.
And he can’t understand how this is not helping him advance.
Absolutely. It is about convincing people that “success” is all about aggression, cutthroat behavior, and treating your workday like a Crossfit session. No one you’d want to work with.
It’s the equivalent of how the manosphere teachng men to be more attractive ends up turning them into into incels.
Lol... Thinking back to a barber I went to years ago, big Trump fan and Biden hater. Kept it cordial, but the next cut after the election, I brought it up... "Yeah...I meant to go vote..."
Also important to note that declining Dem ID does not mean increasing GOP ID. This has overwhelmingly been a shift from (some) Dems to Independent over this time period.
I heard a pollster speak on the radio about a small group of Black males he had polled who said they would not support Harris and liked Trump, but none of them were registered voters.
This was the polling dynamic pre-Obama, Black voters usually polled lower than their eventual support for Democrats. It only seems surprising if one thinks of the last 15 years as the natural state of things.
The Black non-voters would be an issue if their share increases. The article doesn't mention turnout but given that Blacks voters will certainly overwhelmingly vote for Harris, the real question is wether she can mobilize and increase their turnout, as Obama was able to.
I've been wondering if the rise in hustle culture plays a part. I could see for folks that are self employed that going hand in hand with the idea that taxes are just taking the money they grind for
well maybe and I'm sure there are confounding factors such as how much racial identity plays a part, but "hustle culture" leading to fewer voters doesn't seem to match the data. The elections of 2018, 2020, and 2022 were three of the highest turnout US elections of their type in decades.
