A friend of mine was one of the last people to get polio in our state. He was left with one withered arm but otherwise ok. But then in his 70s developed post-polio syndrome, and lost use of his legs as well. Infuriating that we could go back to this.

Well, in Germany we have elections this month. And it looks really sad. Even a former conservative party taking over right extremistic positions and voting together with them did not make the polls look better for them.
