There's little or no direct evidence linking immigration to rising house prices, but the Coalition doesn't care about facts.

Actually homeowners with a single house, and children, don’t really care. If you need it to live in, and want to leave it to your children so they don’t end up homeless, the value doesn’t really factor into your thinking.

After covid closures were over, migration just returned to where it would have been, but the problem was that housing construction had slowed, so the balance was thrown out. Blame for the housing crisis isn’t either/or, it’s and/and. It has many causes, and getting real means taking them all on.
