For Black History Month I am seeking out, checking out and reading children's books by Black authors and on themes of Black History. Every time I check out a book, that author gets some money! This was a terrific read on Kindle-choose your own adventure!

His behavior, the things he’s said are despicable. I agree about the lack of decency he displays, I am saddened by it. My comment never excused his behavior, it is my reasoning for not wanting to initially respond to him. Thank you for your perspective.

I got back into reading in September. Forgot how much fun it can be and incredibly inspiring, especially as a writer. It was hard for me to focus during school, but I'm relearning that reading isn't a chore I though it was.

Such wise and profound words! We cannot lose this gift of reading and need to pass it on. I feel sorry for those that don't perceive literacy the same way; they are missing out on so much. And teaching those who cannot read or who are starting to read is such a wonderful relationship! 💛

Don't forget comics and graphic novels are reading, too! Pictures can help create context for the words.

Don't forget audio books are reading, too! Sometimes letters are just too difficult, but we're all worth the effort of access to the stories around us.

If I have done nothing else, I am proud to have given my kid the gift of the love of reading. She’s a ravenous beast and has 3 library cards at 11!! Thank you for being such a great cheerleader for books!
