Tribute to my local librarian. I was there working on a project and watched as a man was ranting at her desk. She maintained eye contact and nodded patiently while he said his piece for a good 10-15 minutes, until he left satisfied and she got back to work. Respect!!

Yes! Library books were such a source of refuge for me when I was growing up. As a rural kid, they opened up possibilities I never knew existed. Now, I’m a first generation college graduate with multiple degrees. Also, I’m not afraid of people who look different than me.

At the library today, I overheard them talking about a woman's second call to complain about a book! I told her I'm ready to protest if they ever need me, lol. She laughed. But we were on the same page. They are the warmest, most helpful librarians. If you don't like a book, don't read it.
