IRS investigators *already* work these cases with DHS HSI on these exact types of cases. They have for many, many years.

No they actually cannot because they don't have SSN . Documented legal residents don't pay income tax but they pay sales tax, tolls etc. But they aren't eligible for a refund either

Who told you this??? Some undocumented immigrants do have a SSN bc they have work authorization. For anyone that doesn’t have work authorization, they use an ITIN to file their taxes.

BUT
A SSN is issued to citizens at birth. Some states like California have programs to give a tax id number but that's not a SSN
And most undocumented ppl are paid under the table then they put their income back in the economy by buying groceries etc.

A SSN is also issued to any non citizen when they receive work authorization. Additionally the federal government (not states) will give anyone an ITIN, which is used to file taxes and claim a tax refund if you’re owed. Most undocumented immigrants are on payroll.
