I see it less as a traditional boycott and more of an awakening that we really can keep more of our spending in our own economy, and we can support economies that align with our food standards more closely.

To paraphrase a thoroughbred racing adage: We pick the bit up and run with it.
Over the last 30 years I've seen free range eggs become normal instead of cage eggs, sustainably sourced coffee and chocolate be the standard and people choosing not to buy blood diamonds.
They happened because people consciously chose to boycott them.
Don't underestimate the power of a consumer who realises the power they have.
