The other strong positive with quarters is the team fouls. Five per Q and it resets each Q. You never get 14 minutes of bonus free throws through the second half.
I'll never understand why college sports refuse to prepare their players for professional leagues. I know that MOST don't ever make that jump, but shouldn't that be a goal?
Last year Gus Johnson was talking about it during an Iowa WBB broadcast and said the NCAA moved to quarters for Women’s CBB to make the games quicker / less commercial breaks. (Halves = more ADs & $$$) Claimed they didn’t see much growth in the sport at the time of the decision.
Every other level of basketball has adapted to playing 4 quarters. No one's inventing "excitement." It's just the way the sport that's constantly going back and forth is meant to be played. 20-minute halves lead to uninterrupted slop. Why are more end of quarter excitement and momentum swings bad?

2. Quarters
3. Time-limited reviews
4. Maybe just no refs?
