Former SLS Dean Kathleen Sullivan often quoted former HLS Dean Robert Clark: “lawyers are agents of normative ordering”- which means lawyers provide an alternative to fisticuffs, death duels, revenge killings, vigilantism, chaos, & war. Lawyers advocating court orders be ignored violate their oaths.
Yes, this is why we need all voices on deck and not stand by and allow them losers to dismantle the Rule of Law and Democracy. I hear you Elie loud and clear. Love watching you on Reidout.
Ugh lots of people in various professions feeling this way. What is really getting me is there was a lot of information out there to suggest this exactly would happen and it was not talked about. At least Dems would have some “we tried telling you” to add to their arguments.
I studied small-unit tactics, asymmetric warfare and operating (mostly) outside the rule of law, while teaching basic governance and rule of law to the locals, in the army.
And that training has never been more relevant than in Trump's America.
I studied law and currently practice it, and it is not obsolete. Someone needs to keep a record and speak on how the Madisonian model existed. As they say, down South, God always leaves someone to tell the story.
You and @gtconway.bsky.social both cautioned us not to get too excited but you know what I still appreciate @normeisen.bsky.social all the state attorney generals for trying. Can't we just find a solution where they continue on that path and somebody forces the justice department hand
Democrats response: "As a duly designated representative of the Federal Government, I order you to cease any and all illegal activity and return forthwith to your place of origin or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension."
I studied history, poli sci and German after a tour of duty in Germany and Desert Storm, and the GOP are like fuck it, we will destroy NATO, depopulate Gaza, and open up concentration camps in Cuba.
I wonder what professors are telling current law students now. Separation of powers may not be a thing? Get ready to relitigate birthright citizenship and we’re bringing back Plessy v Ferguson?
When this crisis ends (there’s a lot in that phrase 😒) it’ll be time to re-write/amend the Constitution to be more equitable for ALL of the people. On the bright side. Pretty sure you wrote a book (or 2) that will be very relevant to that. Cheers to that.
So is teaching any kind of American history. What's the fucking point when middle school kids and up question why they are learning this if Donald and Elon just get to rule by fiat and no historical precedent matters.
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon gods they made
And the sign flashed out it's warning
In the words that it was forming
The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence.

Thinking about how to get to the Qweeg & the Strawberries moment with Trump. Play on his paranoia. Let him believe there’s individuals in his administration pretending to be loyal but actually planning on the 25th amend or such. Make him believe he has no idea who to trust. His paranoia will explode

'Cause I got opinions...✌🏻
"I'd like to get a sample of your brain tissue."

She's right tho.
My kids didnt get the Zuul part tho.
(I'm still chuckling)
Actually, it's more of a guideline than a rule...
Something has to surround the loopholes trump is walking through.
"That oughta do it. Thanks very much, Dems."
I still got my comics though.
But hitting the responsible parties with the paddle is okay!

But fear not . . . there will be a MASSIVE need in four years.
What a joke

Hi Elie, from Arkansas.
