They don't just represent their members in negotiations with management! They also offer free assistance with the citizenship and naturalization process for workers with green cards, run their own doctor clinic, partner with a legal aid clinic, AND run a "culinary academy" for training. BUT ALSO!

It occurs to me that unions are a lot like vaccines. It's possible to NOT join a union/get a vaccine and still get the benefits of having done so BUT ONLY if the percentage of people who DO is over a certain amount. If the level drops too low, then you start to lose those benefits.
