I get a lot of people, usually the fucking follow farmers and the Hashtag Resistance grifters, whining at me about my blocklists, especially the follow farming list, because "there are so many good people on it!" and that *must* mean that I'm exploiting block lists to blah blah blah blah blah

The blocklists I maintain are not lists of "bad people" or "bots" (which, when used by that crowd, essentially means "bad people") or "people I disagree with". They are lists of people engaged in specific harmful behavior, no matter what their motive for engaging in that behavior is.

Each list has a very specific harmful behavior it is targeting. I have done my best to not only identify that specific harmful behavior, but to communicate in the 300 characters I have for a list description precisely the level of subjective judgment that goes into each determination.

As an example, the "single purpose account reply troll spammer" list has a very specific set of criteria that must be met for someone to land on it: over 50% of either the last 20 posts or posts over the last 24 hours must be substantively similar, argumentative replies to "unconnected people"

Okay, sounds good! It was throwing me off that the handle followed me but had like 40k followers already. And then I went down a rabbit hole because I felt like they weren’t crediting the original photos, and I was right.

Yeah, content scrapers are fucking awful, but I don't do pure content scraper because I don't have the energy to deal with the people who sad their favorite "X every hour" type account would go on it, heh. But the follow spam is obvious!
