2nd, I think you’ve hit it on the head with the regionality. the two of us are constantly stopped and asked for directions when we’re in NYC, despite not having lived there for decades. the body-language and gender-marker cues for “approachable” are super regional!
(except on Chicago public transit; you do not perceive anyone while riding the train lol)
