America is not ready or prepared for the complete absence of tourists this summer. The anecdotes I've already heard about the high number of empty hotel rooms in Washington DC are shocking.

not ideal in the run up to the two biggest sporting events a nation can host, the threat of being detained for simply posting an innocuous aside is enough to put so many off
I went to New York last May and it was so full of other Brits it was honestly like being in London except for the sun and hot weather. I know I won’t visit again until the madness is over and a lot of others feel the same. We genuinely feel bad for the Americans who didn’t ask for this.
Keep hearing the same from people I know in Canada & Europe. They're simply not coming here again until things change. It's stunning. DC will be very empty this summer.
The shore towns near me who rely on tourism are sounding the alarm on lack of rentals for early summer when typically they are booked out through June at this point.
