Just can't agree with the "Lakers overpaid" bit on Mark Williams.
He's 23, and an enormous human being, who knows how to move his large frame around.
He's producing at a ridiculous level this season, and his catch radius is practically built to play with Luka.
What are we doing here?

luka's arrival devalues picks, williams is dynamic on O, & maybe there's a not-on-hornets bump, but "what're we doing here" seems extreme (imho)
I just don't think that package is a steep price for what they're getting back whatsoever.
It's the Lakers. If there's an organization that can outweigh lost assets by having an attractive market/FA interest, it's them.
We got Luka and have LeBron
Who cares if we gave up an extra pick for a potential starting center
LeBron will take a big pay cut, so we’ll have cap space for FAs
Granted, that's on the site that shall not be named, but that doesn't make it any less of an odd argument, given how much better he's gotten.
But that's a huge price for a player less available than early career Isaac or TimeLord.
If he'd played in 175/212, no way I'd have accepted anything close to the Knecht deal.
That, and people don’t really watch Hornets game.
That's only going to make the missed games number that much more egregious.
Think getting guys in, who you can have contractual control over for years, is how you should use those picks anyway.
It's fine with a player to be good, but what is paid is nit fair value.
Williams has played 85/202 games. It is that which makes him risky & that that suggest the pick shouldn't have been required.
*Except for the point of catch radius. You can trust Luka to put the ball exactly where it needs to be.
Talent-wise it’s as good as it gets. Only question will be if he can stay healthy.
the cupboard is bare for this team.
no picks for six years.
just Luka and whoever you can get to come.
give him the max deal and there's no money, either.
good luck.
That said, as a Nuggs fan, this Lakers team with Mark Williams and Jaxson Hayes doesn't frighten me. Post Lebron with max space, we'll see.
I do agree the opposite is *more likely*, but I also believe this trade had the injury bit baked in.
Personally, I just don't see it.
Granted, I cover the whole damn league, so you're more exposed to the Hornets than I am.
Tell me, what are you seeing?
Perhaps I've simply gotten lucky, and seen the best version of him when I've tuned in. I'm immensely high on him.
Personally, I think that's a pretty dope approach for a 23-year-old center.
