The plural should be platypodes. The word comes from Greek, not Latin.

Same for octopus/octopodes.

This is the first time I recall ever seeing octopodes suggested as the plural of octopus. It sounded so strange to me that I had to Google it. Considering the pronunciation, I don't think I would ever use it.

Fun fact - in 2020 it was discovered that platypuses glow blue-green under UV light! This coincidence shocked Dan Povenmire, co-creator of P and F, who decided to color Perry teal 28 years earlier.
