Prolific Poster

I rewatched Jumpin’ Jack Flash tonight. I want to decorate my future place with the same design aesthetic as Whoopi’s apartment in that movie, including classic movie posters, a novelty-sized toothbrush, and a gigantic crayon.

I have some issues with it, but “This Thing Between Us” by Gus Moreno has been living in my head rent-free since I read it a few months ago.

Universities have the power, money, and networks to protect their students. They may simply choose not to. 🙃

I haven’t gotten to that one yet. I’m still in the middle of Destroy All Monsters, which has been a bit of a let down.

I love that Ark in Space pre-dates Alien by 4 years. Credit where credit is due, a strip of bubble wrap spray-painted green and moved by an air gun was creepier than it had any right to be.

If you don't mutter "Edward plate hands" to yourself as you move 4-5 plates from the dishwasher to the cabinet by clasping them between all your fingers, are you even living?

Since I have your attention, I just want to say I loved your explanation of the reverse lampshade in Kaiju Preservation Society.

Those kids defied the laws of physics every single day for an entire summer, and it’s the shade of the platypus that’s destroying your suspension of disbelief?

This is a problematic headline. And ultimately can be dangerous. The wording makes it sound like this was the position of Jewish groups, whereas in truth opinions were diverse. This gives credence to these groups as if they speak for the Jewish community as a whole. They don't.

Maybe it’s a byproduct of my mom having a lot of recipes from the ‘70s, but it’s not unusual to see chow mien noodles used in desserts.

I’m thinking maybe a baking show with puppets and special effects by Rick Baker.

Whomever is advising the Democrats right now is criminally bad at their job. The notion that they can meme their way out of fascism is truly incredible.

So…you see…when Viggo Mortensen kicks the orc helmet and screams, it’s because he actually broke his toe.

Ahhh!!! There’s the upper body of a columnist with a blazer floating down the lane!

CNN reporting that Senate Democrats are “disappointed” in House members for violating “decorum” at Trump’s speech last night. Just utterly clueless. And worth remembering next time those senators wax reverently about John Lewis.

This album and Cavalier Eternal were particularly popular amongst my friends and me at my high school. Thank you!!!

Don’t tell me democracy is at risk and a constitutional crisis is unfolding and the best you got is a modified ping pong paddle.

"Fraud, waste and abuse" is the new "ethics in game journalism." This is the gamergate playbook run by a manchild billionaire to destroy the federal government and usher in techno-feudalism.

DOGE's crackdown on agency spending means that federal researchers can't do vital experiments, order liquid nitrogen tanks to preserve samples, or refill basic but necessary lab equipment. My story with @zoeschiffer.bsky.social: www.wired.com/story/doge-e...

here’s the thing: why wouldn’t you treat every dumbass idea as potentially worthwhile when a month later you can just go “oopsies” and no one holds you accountable for giving credence to stupid shit?

Opinion: a group of women, some of whom are trans, is not 'gender-diverse.' It's just women! And it doesn't have to be, but saying the group is gender diverse kinda suggests that trans women are a different gender and they're not. They're women. 🤷‍♀️

Just so long as he wears a fashionable tux!

This is basically the attitude of democrats up and down the ticket and it’s pathetic and unamerican

'Did you even say thank you?'

Just so we're clear was it not a crisis when it was the other way around?

2020 made me reevaluate the characterization in most horror movies, so I’m with you.

Breaking: 10 NYT writers think trans rights are the least important and attacks on the trans community aren’t that bad. Least surprising news ever.

A) Their appearance in accessible media does not necessarily mean they are communicating accessibly B) How many publications or programs reach a majority of the population? C) Media companies are not necessarily the most discerning when it comes to who they platform.

I think it’s extremely telling that @nytimes.com assesses the loss of protections for trans people as less consequential and less negative than a corruption case involving a city mayor.

Goodbye, sir. I will always think fondly playing songs over the air of my college radio station from “One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This.”

Back in the mid-20th century, the FBI could place an individual under surveillance solely for being LGBTQ. This is what enabled the anti-queer witch hunts of the McCarthy era. Now, DHS permits surveillance of LGBTQ people again. Just being queer makes you a suspect. www.advocate.com/politics/dhs...

Just read this graf. Share it with people you know who don’t pay attention to politics or news.

At this point anything (I should stress, nonviolent) that would convince me our elected officials were actually putting themselves at risk for their constituents. We had 8 years of emails and texts warning of existential threats, and it seems like all we can expect are more emails.

Zelensky is a wartime leader watching his people suffer and die under Russian attacks every day. To be lectured and lied to by Trump and Vance, as they defend the war criminal dictator committing these atrocities, is unimaginable agony. An everlasting shame for America.

People who eat carrots quietly, where is your Sense of Theatre?

The attack on DEI shows why liberals should stop arguing about "strategic" use of language forever. DEI stands for three uncontroversial virtues that most every American accepts, and the right still turned it into a vile slur. It doesn't matter what you say - they will poison it because YOU said it.

This is such a fucking mealy mouthed article that shows so much of what is wrong with political journalism 1. the CONCERN IS DEAD AND SICK PEOPLE NOT 'POLITICAL PERILOUSNESS" 2. they don't fact check RFK's "measles outbreaks happen every year" comment.

I’m genuinely torn on this. On one hand, you cannot legitimately ignore the fact that a substantial portion of the electorate voted for this man. On the other, this has become a repetitive trope that wastes limited resources on what is essentially the same story.

BREAKING: The full trans military ban has been released. It disqualifies from service all archive members who have of have had a history of gender dysphoria. This is a disgrace to the brave trans folks willing to sacrifice their lives to protect this country. courtlistener.com/docket/69583...

Breaking: Trump's full trans military ban has just dropped. Quickly reading it, it appears to be a full separation from the military for all transgender military members, and states being trans is inconsistent with "honesty, humility, uniformity, and integrity." A sad day for this nation.

Does it make your eyes become large and make the light that you shine become unseen?
