Follower counts can be deceiving. Engagement is higher on Bluesky — we’ve seen this trend consistently, not just for the past few weeks.

as an experiment, I posted the same post to twitter and bluesky.
here is the time series of engagements (sum of comments, reposts, likes) from the two platforms.
Note that I have 39K followers on twitter and 7K here, so engagement per follower here is more than 10 times higher here on bluesky.

I’m not sure of how the meta goes on here lmao but I’m gonna keep posting cuz I like being here.
The @ucho-ten.net bluesky client (for mobile ver) I am developing struggles to make such a world a reality.
Having to reply with a pin to bookmark something is ... odd. But clearly a community created feature. It's definitely better here, in many more ways too.
2) more actual humans and not bots
3) algorithm that doesn't specifically promote toxicity for you to argue with but rather just shows you stuff that you follow
Right now, I think it may just be due to the platform being younger and smaller.

Hoping for rapid, effective bridges between AT and ActivityPub. I crave a real Fediverse.
La cada thread tem 3 milhoes de visualizações, aqui nao chega a 3 mil
People must be weird here. Not sure I'm . comfortable (yet) with the attention 😱
Someone said the thing people want the most is hidden by the thing they're most scared of
I can understand that
How do you avoid the corrosive influence of outside cash and still pay everybody who needs to get paid?

i mostly do react native stuff, with more of a affinity for the native parts and product infra. also been as of late pretty into golang!
But it literally brought be 2 followers :)
Even on LinkedIn it's easier to engage, talk to people.
2) Twitter, and most other platforms for that matter, have become so oversaturated with both users and content that the threshold to engagement has become enormous, to the point you don’t even see the people you follow organically
No regrets deleting my twitter account.

I block several bot and spam followers everyday, and while they are removed from my follower list they are not removed from my follower count.
Those not aligned with he who won’t be named are severely suppressed. This is such a breath of fresh air.
Authentic connections are always better. Thanks!
But without doubt here I have more conversations
Is it possible to find out how many people have joined Bluesky, and how many from Australia?
Let musk have his little empire there.
From a certain point on Elmo and fellows won't leave it at that i can imagine.
Stay sharp and thanks for creating this alternative🙏.

Here I am seeing the same thing but not the same feeling. I am thinking that the starter packs are causing the high follow counts.
That said, maybe I am just that bad at writing an appealing post.
Will try to use a VPN to US server, see how it goes...
I have 36k followers on twitter but engagement is tumbleweed. 800 here and people actually engage.
It's not like I'm chasing clout or whatever but it feels nice to see that someone, somewhere out there actually read something I said lol

Imagine – unlikely – that Bluesky starts inserting ads. Then, people will be interested in moving to some other platform, which needs to be there for people to migrate. And still, they'll be able to Skeet
