I want full unionisation and cooperativisation of the retail industry, the breakup of the major retail firms, and stricter anti-harassment and anti-abuse measures against members of the public. You want material goods, you better be prepared to act like a fucking adult.
Oh yeah, it’s at the top of my most hated Christmas song list.
I worked retail at a novelty store one Christmas… we had a display of 9 Laughing Heads- pull on his tie and receive 30 seconds of annoying hillbilly laughter. Kids would come by and pull on all of the ties and then walk away.
As a manager of a lot of people in their first jobs in the corporate world, people who have worked in retail or the service industry are much better employees than those that haven’t. It’s like a common sense detector.
I did 2 tours from 04 - 13. I've been out of it long enough now that I do enjoy some Christmas songs but some are still infuriating. "Leave a peppermint stick for old saint nick"? fuck off sinatra
My girlfriend and I went to a Dollar Tree last night (one I had previously worked at) and I said "you'd hate working here. You're a perfectionist. The store will *never* be clean enough." and she started to argue, then we walked in...
I had an actual panic attack at my retail job nine years ago because I had just finished folding all my shirts on one table and some customers came over and fucked up the lot.
Also my dickhead boss banned me from using a guide to fold the shirts, which definitely didn't slow me down

I feel this in my bones.
Day shift got a normal playlist but this thing is drilled into my brain
Retail breeds misanthropes.
But fuck Paul McCartney. All his time with the Beatles is entirely canceled out by this one song.
Having a Wonderful Christmastime is torture.
BOYS BECOMING MEN
MEN BECOMING WOLVES!

I used to use retail as an excuse to not be there.
