Israel has restored water supplies to Gaza. It has also agreed to the resumption of food and medical supply shipments. This was unquestionably the correct decision.

Palestinians on the former bird app are the best source I find.
They said it's a joke because the pipes are bombed and the pumps need electricity. Also, the tap water isn't drinkable. They would like to have a 24 hours truce.
there is now news reporting supporting his view (from AP and Al Jazeera)--I just wanted confirmation about journalists. Yep, it's really horrifying and it needs to stop.
Western journalists spreading "40 beheaded babies" and "the Israeli government says ..." without further checking are IMO part of the problem. This man isn't the only person, I haven't kept track of the others (incl organisations) confirming this. Your care in tracking sources is admirable.
Gelukkig! Daar ben ik oprecht blij om.
Ik heb net Buitenhof gezien, uiteraard geheel in het teken van wat in Israël en bij Palestijnen gebeurt.
Wat vreselijk en wat uitzichtloos aan alle kanten!
While the Americans have expressed unequivocal public support for Israel's right to defend itself, I get the impression the administration has privately been pushing the Israelis hard on halting indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas + using siege warfare--all of which are war crimes.
Jake Sullivan: “The critical thing from our perspective is that there be safe places for civilians to go that will not be subject to military bombardment, where they can be safe physically, & where they can have access to the essential food, water, medicine, shelter.” https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...
While Sullivan frames this as part of a need to protect US citizens in Gaza, implicit in his statements is the need for safe zones to protect Palestinians as well.
Update, of which we are all now (hopefully) aware. Water was restored to *southern* Gaza. Plus all the qualifications and explanations that others have added to this thread.
No you are correct; I posted in a hurry. Also, logistically speaking, unclear how Israeli water trucks would be able (or even allowed via Hamas) to enter the northern Gaza Strip.
Gaza *clean* water supplies, almost all from Israel, are precarious in the best of times. This is definitely the worst.
why didn’t you delete the OP and report to clarify? It seems an important enough distinction that you wouldn’t want to assume people would read the replies
I have now done so. I am still learning how posting on bluesky works. I thought the many clarifying messages back and forth with other posters took care of this.

And thank the gods he isn't currently in Gaza because it's really not looking good.
