This has been happening for years. Using certain words will get your content buried, and on some platforms demonetized. When Covid hit YouTubers couldn’t say the word Covid or Corona Virus without losing views and money.

Starlink is being pushed to all Apple phones right now, so that’s another reason I feel justified in this thought process. Add it to the Russian attacks on undersea lines and it doesn’t sound so implausible.

The only reason they're in power is because of how successfully they weaponized the internet. I don't think they're going to attack internet access as a whole. However, it would be naive to think that massive censorship isn't well on its way.

This is the point I’m at least hoping for. Because they can’t get their dose of dopamine from everyone panicking if they don’t know how much they’re destroying things, or people fearing they are, if they turn that off. Surveillance works both ways in this case.

There is a technical reason behind all of this, which unfortunately tends get obscured by individual human stories. OpenReach and BT are completely seperate companies. You connect your broadband modem and telephone to your phone socket at the end of a copper cable. 1/x

At the exchange that copper cable connects to two devices: a broadband modem called a DSLAM, and the old telephone network (PSTN) BT own the broadband modem in the exchange(the DSLAM), which sits inside a cabinet BT rent off openreach. 2/x

Other ISPs also have modems in the exchange, in equipment bays they rent off of openReach. So openreach own the exchange building, the equipment bays, the copper cable between your house and their exchange, and the old telephone network. You pay BT for "phone and internet" BT take the money you 3/x
