and still a tradition there today: our Ukrainian foster daughter told us that they go from door to door as a group of children, sing it and receive sweets. She was very happy when it was also sung here at the Christmas concert
Respectfully I find all the metal versions etc to be real hat-on-hat-stuff, same as going turbo goth with "Paint It, Black." I just need a capella, bells or piano and I'm good https://youtu.be/OCf3lvUpWL4?si=oC-0x8Ro3zHK6lbJ
My son is a self-taught guitarist and was asked to play in his high school band’s annual Christmas concert, and honestly, hearing him rock out on this song was truly the highlight! He’s 26 now, but I saved the videos and rewatch them each year.
It’s amazing - the best lesson I learnt from Home Alone besides ‘don’t trust random guys dressed as cops knocking on your door and asking when your security systems turn on while you’re away’ was Carole of the Bells is an absolute banger!
