We’re about to get a case study in how many libs are persuadable based on which ones stop calling him “Elonia” and “Elonka” once we point out it’s transphobic and shitty

I guarantee most of them haven’t even thought about this. Which is a problem, but also a correctable one for a lot of them. My dad posted one vaguely similar thing on FB several years ago and my brother and I rang him for it. Hes never repeated the behavior nor did he remotely argue at the time
As someone who was raised in the Republican shit mines of the 1980s, I appreciate this approach. One of the reasons I never lean too heavily on my worldview and shove it at people is because I was so very wrong in the past. Who knows what I'm wrong about now.
There's an assumption among a lot of people on the left that you only call things out to protect the vulnerable, and while that's certainly one goal, another is often to explain to people why what they're doing is wrong in the hopes they will change. Too many people assume no one can change
I'm hobbling proof that people can change in many ways, some drastic, and for the better. I *should* do more work to try to change minds. I watched my son spend two months changing the mind of his college roommate, appealing to his humanism, showing him charts and graphs, in the end the kid ..
Totally Kylo Renned it by seeing the light, agreeing my son was right, then voting for Trump anyways. I wonder if I can handle that type of rejection. Won't know until I try I guess.
I guess I can understand the "nobody can change" mindset, if experiences like my son's are what people are met with. But a tough problem isn't going to have an easy solution.
It’s not only transphobic, it’s just plain misogynistic too! It is just calling a boy a girl because that’s an insult- like WTF? Just grade school level bs that has infected ppl bc they stayed on Twitter way too long.
I am blocking anyone who gets mad at any pushback against those transphobic and misogynistic insults. I'll give people SOME credit and assume they can change if they're just dumb and never thought about how it comes across before. But if they just react with anger when called out? B-b-b-blocked.
I knew it was shitty but didn’t realize it was transphobic too! This is very helpful for me. I don’t do the name calling, but it always, always angers me when I see it.
