Poor one out for all the old games that are still gems but no longer get updates with small player numbers divided between platforms (titanfall 2, my beloved)
it is good but for shooters and other pvp style games it is chaotic as cheating happens daily and companies ignore it till every third month to force people to get a refund from the hackers or worse people are working for the hackers and dev team for the game itself
I recently replayed BG1 for the first time in a decade, and found it sadly dull & slow after playing more modern games, like BG3. It was so surprising, I've held off on replaying BG2 for fear that it might be the same thing.
Did you find this to be true? Also, what did you think of BG2 in 2024?
I've played the two previous BG games before, but it has been MANY years ago. I just remember it being better back then.
Someone put it to me this way, "look at it like an adventure USING 2nd ed AD&D, instead of a video game." I agree with that, and I guess I hate 2nd edition.
So I understand that as someone whos just getting into the older BG Games, What I would recommend is watching some lets plays or play it with a friend.
These games are obviously old however there is ALOT to do in both BG1 & 2.
BG2 is much better with new mechanics being introduced.
It's been in the works for a while, but the next and possibly final big patch for BG3 is gonna have it, finally! That's all I've wanted from it for so long. lol!
But yeah, ESPECIALLY with games that are designed to be multiplayer, cross-play should at least be considered if not prioritized.
As long as the control input have no advantage, for example in Apex Legends controller input was superior to mouse and keyboard for many years. Like it wasn't even interesting to watch ALGS Championship because you knew the top controller player will always win. Against mouse and keyboard teams.
Oh, for sure. That's always gonna be a factor that has to be considered in PVP things, but when it's a co-op game, I feel like the more people who have access to more people, the better.
It’ll take a while but I think it’s becoming more common. Kinda surreal that my buds and can play shit liek COD amongst each other despite the platform difference
Agreed. I have a friend who mainly games on pc and one who mainly games on PlayStation so when a new multiplayer game comes out I have to chose between them and it’s hard but I don’t want to spent $70 twice for the same game on different platforms. I already hate spending $70 period.
Wouldn’t mind that, but I am pretty sure some publishers will mind, haven’t updated myself on it in years but last I knew was that Sony wanted to have their tantrum on go PlayStation or no playing games for you
Not doing this in modern games should be punishable by death, tbh. Especially when publishers are making us sign into their bespoke fucked up launchers. Like, why are we even doing this and making all these accounts if you can’t supply these basic features?
You mean mobile to pc? If so it's prob the game play that gonna make it harder for mobile gamers of pc gamers where in the same league with them for noj competition games ya it can work but fps typs I don't this it well idk tho also sorry for the bad english
Please note that cross-platform play and cross-platform progression requires intensive and grueling extra hours of coding AND extra server space dedicated to the saves so you can have the same save on X-Box and Computer. Many companies and indie developers do not have the time or requirements.
The reason for companies not having the time is because most programmers in the current age are given very little time to prototype, polish, present, flesh out, polish, present again, then wrap it in a nice bowtie for you to play.
Most, if not all, Dire Wolf Digital games have this. You have to pay for the base game on each platform, but DLC purchases, saves, progression, etc. carry over. Root and Dune Imperium are a lot of fun.
Cross progression is a huge one for me. I believe steam needs a better mobile client especially now that Balatro is available on mobile, I’d love to transfer my save data over!
As long as it isn't a shooter and even then it should only exclude PC. There isn't shooting game around where the skill floor for PC isn't damn near the skill ceiling on console.
plus the cheating part as people blame pc players for cheating while ignoring console players cheating as well. Given it is software based for pc while hardware for console
Was a scrolling too fast and the post below yours was talking about dresses and for a moment I thought you were asking for more games with crossdressing 😂
Which now that I think about it is surprisingly common in games and we didn't have a gamer gate over it 😆
So long as Nintendo refuses to keep their consoles up to standard they probably won’t be included in that unfortunately, but at least PS Xbox and PC have it for most games now
I don't know though... That would make your game depend on an online service that may or may not exist tomorrow, further fueling the "I don't own my games" narrative.
It's crazy how, as a younger gamer, cross play was this crazy idea that sounded so impractical and impossible that we were just sure we would NEVER see it.

That's incredible

The story is what matters most so don't shy away from playing Story Mode Difficulty if you prefer that :3

I love it when games support it. Microsoft is at least trying by supporting discord integration for party chats etc.
When it works, it's magical.
More games need to support this.
It doesn't matter how you play, we are all gamers in the end.
I get upset when games just remove that and expect everyone to play online :/
these massive companies just buy up dev teams which stops any form of collaborative thinking and workflow sharing, which holds back gaming as a whole.
all online games should be cross platform/progression natively
Which now that I think about it is surprisingly common in games and we didn't have a gamer gate over it 😆
no issue with cross progression

It is so cool that we can now. The future is now.
