This was about DCU, and I finally watched the game tonight.
DCU needs CBs & DMs, plural...which they plainly needed coming into this season. This wasn't effort IMO, and they created an adequate xG (1.6) for a road game. Just totally hapless defending inside the box, in transition, & in zone 14.

IMO you can't put Pirani in that role in any situation, but I get why they tried it.
I'd argue the Pirani/Leal collision just before this was more frustrating because they were in their comfort zone (attacking third).
DCU isn't cheap! Their transfer balance since the start of 2022 is $14.5 million in the red.
It's that when they spend $500k and up, they miss like 75% of the time.
Anyway, DCU spends at a level where they could build a team competing for like...5th in the East. You can go somewhere with that, the money is *and has not been* the problem. They just struggle, bar Benteke & Schnegg, to identify the right players to spend that money on.
Basically for every Schnegg there's a Jeahze and a Robertha.
