Decades ago listened to 'Ideas' on a car trip.
Raised rural where everyone looked like us/talked like us & you were ostracized if you didn't follow their pattern,
I heard alt story to 'Jesus born Dec 25th' that finally fit what 'facts' I'd heard since I was 3.
Got CBC transcript.
Never looked back.

So I called up the line to radio headquarters and the receptionist was like, "Oh yeah, we can do that. Hold on a sec" and she put me through to radio archivist guy. He looks up the episode and is like, "Yeah, I'm burning that CD right now. I'll drop it in the mail for you." Perfect! /2

Second, I was doing a story for Prairie Dog about climate change and media both-sidesing. And I thought it'd be good to interview someone at Quirks & Quarks b/c they have consistently throughout their history covered climate science well w/out ever doing false balance bullshit. /3

So I phone up the Quirks & Quarks phone number on their website thinking I'll maybe set up an interview with a producer a week or so later. But my call is answered by one of the show's producers and they're like, "Oh yeah, hang on a sec, Bob should still be here…" /4

Within 30 seconds of calling I was on ON THE LINE WITH BOB FREAKING MCDONALD!!!! It wasn't my most organized interview ever b/c I wasn't planning for that to happen, but man, that was a career highlight for me. He was awesome & took my Qs about media & climate science really seriously. /5

So yeah… I rag on CBC sometimes b/c I freaking LOVE the CBC. And I have had some super fantastic experiences w/ them & want them to be even more awesome. And the problems I have w/ CBC has nothing to do w/ the reporters or the on-air personalities or producers. 100% it's the pinheads at the top.
