I worked and lived in the US for a long time. Never have I been as grateful to have been born Canadian and be back in my birth country as I am right now.

I worked/lived in the US in the 90s to early 00's.
Once 9/11 happened, and I saw the response, I made my plans to come back to Canada (2002).
Best decision of my life.
What angers me is it's not all the American people. We have had a fantastic relationship for generations. People like Trump and Musk are destroying that for their own gain.
This was never about hating Americans. It's about our country.
We lived in the USA for 4 years as my husband was transferred there. I have American friends and family but I am a proud Canadian at heart and happy we moved home. I wish our daughters and their families could/would come here!
Don't gloat.
There's lots of us in the US who would apply for political asylum instantly if we could figure out how to get across the border right now.
We also need to wake up and protect Canada from politicians that are bough or can be bought. No one here believed me about trump the first time. I'm saying now, anyone that will not go against trump or uses maga talking points is extremely dangerous to Canada.
We are well aware. Our goal is to elect Mark Carney as Prime Minister. He is an economist which is what we need right now. We will NEVER become part of the US. If you don't realize that you don't know Canadians!
That is my hope Kate, I am Canadian - I pledged allegiance to my Country - Canada. I am in a hopelessly conservative riding I will do what I can here to let people know. I'm just trying to sound the alarm how dangerous the Pierre Poilievre, Danielle Smith etc really are to Canada.
Your post on birth country brings up a question that I wanted to ask my new, and treasured, Canadian friends β¦ how do you feel about allowing at least one Acadian back in the country? You may recall we were asked to leave awhile back and ended up in Louisiana ( thanks a lot guys).. I am ready to go!
Let me grab a coat and Iβll be right there!! Grins.. if only it were that easy to escape this horrible nightmare in the US.. to be honest the countryβs entire social history is a tale of greed and racism.. nothing new here just out in the open for all to see- stay strong friends
My cousin moved down to Texas about 30 years ago. Married, was living a great life, so happy. So they had to move back here (well, to the island) last year. I feel so bad for his wife. She grew up in TX, their house was 3rd generation and they had to sell it.
Yes...Vancouver Island - Tofino. I'm glad they're back in Canada, esp. now that they're seniors but uprooting from the house the even your grandma was born in, selling that house, moving to a ... rainforest where you know nobody. She's not doing well. But going home isn't an option.

I would move to Nunavut, as far away as possible from the US.
While you are there, please shut off those big faucets.
