A couple years ago I did a nursing rotation at an primary school in SC and discovered that out of 350 students approximately 100 of them are unvaccinated, many of them claim religious reasons. I was in charge of alphabetically sorting the exemption forms for those children.

The problem public health is facing is that public trust relies on clear evidence of good faith, and willingness to admit and correct mistakes. The success of cranks like RFK builds on real breaches of trust like the infamous "very big mistake" on aerosol transmission.

Hard to rebuild from that. 🤷

I find it really interesting he can’t see the parallels to covid. Children too young to be vaccinated should be protected from infection, the longer term health risks, not just the acute ones.

Like some of these issues directly overlap, some still seem like question marks for Covid. I find it hard to argue reducing transmission for one but ongoing transmission for the other (which mutates highly) is a nothing burger.

Medical policy on infectious diseases really seems to be a cesspit of motivated reasoning, commitment bias, and Dunning-Kruger effects right now.

COVID and the mistakes around it made a huge mess, but the deeper I'm digging into this stuff the worse it gets. There's zero accountability all over.
