They know how, they neutralised Sanders when he threatened to become one. Instead they choose to clutch the pearls and do nothing. The Dems are not going to save the USA, because they are part of the problem. Twice they chose candidates so bad they couldn't even beat a certifiable shit like FOTUS.

Hillary Clinton was the best qualified candidate, man or woman, lacking only combat duty, ever to run for that office. Bernie (and he’s my senator) gives great speeches. Bill Clinton must have turned Bekah Mercer down for her to spend hundreds of millions smearing them.

Clinton had the $$$, no one else did, that's why she was candidate. Best qualified? Whatever that means, it very obviously doesn't win elections, or connect with voters. She proved she was an unelectable liability. If your "best" can't even beat FOTUS, your selection process is seriously broken.

How many of us really know how to be effective opposition in an authoritarian state? It's not what they were elected to do. They are trying to play by the rules they know and I think we can be a little unrealistic in terms of expectations. What is it that we expect?

Yeah, I meant in a concrete sense. Not to be flippant, but this kind of makes my point. I'm in agreement that they've been feckless and shitty, and I think they need to be louder and madder, but their latitude for concrete action in opposition is very low and that's why they're scattered, imo.

Dem pols should be out there loudly shifting the narratives - every hour, if necessary. Fight back against the Fox News propaganda in ways that the public can easily grasp. AOC knows how to do this.

You can see real message discipline from people like Klobuchar, but they are tone-deaf. I think what we need is a group of politicians making affirmative cases for shit like Van Hollan was doing. Fight for what's right, not popular. Organize protests. Be visible fighting. But that's me.
