I've got some Gillie Potter stuff on a CD I bought for my late uncle. He came up with a line very similar to one used by Muhammad Ali decades later. "Where's Russia? Russia is in the newspapers". I think this was in the 1920s. Ali was asked if he knew where Vietnam was and said "It's on the TV".

Not long before I retired earlier this year I had to explain what Monty Python's Flying Circus was to a young colleague. I also have had to explain who Alexei Sayle and the band Focus are to bar staff when I was in the pub before going to see them perform.

We had an old colour TV that used to lose some of its colour. A correctly placed tap underneath it had full restorative powers for a while. This method was applied for approx 2 years until all vision was finally extinguished and a new TV purchased. Much to dads annoyance.

Same. One of my favourite shows as a child. To make it even better, it’s set in my hometown of Milwaukee. Although not quite sure why half the cast sounded like they were from Brooklyn. Same with Laverne & Shirley.
