Although we knew this the headline and lack of an alternative plan are very disappointing. All the more important for the U.K. government to sort out the spark gap, reduce the cost of electricity, and make heat pumps the most cost effective option.

There had previously been an aspiration to end the sale of gas boilers by 2035 but nothing was legally in force. However, without such an end date, which can provide long-term market direction, it is unclear how decarbonising heating by 2050 will happen. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
