They somehow game the algorithm, and people who are cretins throw money at them for merch, I imagine. I don't know much since if I see 'woke' and them scowling, I usually block the channel. I already know they disappoint their grandmothers.
Paraphrasing another comment Iβve recently read, a lot of comic books, movies and video games from the 90s-2000s were extremely βwokeβ by the standards of people like that Del Arroz Guy.
The worst part? His follower never call him out for knowing nothing about the works he says he cares about. They care more about these preposterous βculture warsβ than proper journalism.
PS: Whatβs his problem with Hawkgirl?
Their problem with Hawkgirl? Based on my own observations, it's a combination of "Strong woman? Ew, this is horrible woke crap!" and being scared of and/or repulsed by woman as strong as or stronger than them. Therefore, characters like Hawkgirl are a no-go.
Yeah. Especially when the #JusticeLeague animated series made Hawkgirl a fan favorite, along with John Stewart. It seems pop culture and its followers have gone backwards.
Yeah, I was gonna bring that up, but I ran out of space. π
Now you brought that up, you'd think the live action Justice League stuff would have been easy to pull off. After all, nearly a century of DC comics and sorting out what works and what doesn't, plus all the aminated shows and movies. π€·ββοΈ
I'd guess they're mostly bots, and he probably believes she has girl cooties. We all know the only way he'll get close to a naked woman is with rohypnol, or by breaking into a morgue.
Anyone else remember when Heelvsbabyfaces thought a trans character was Hawkgirl even though she was speaking to the trans character and looked nothing like the character?
*(he probably means Eddie Gathegi, seen here playing Mr. Terrific, also in the teaser - NOT a Green Lantern. Fillion is playing Guy Gardner, the other OTHER Bronze Age Green Lantern.)
Holy shit he looks perfect in the role. I thought Mister Terrific's adaptation in Green Arrow was alright, but this is incredible. I hope they include some nod to the Fair Play Club in his spotlight episode/subplot, I love when characters demonstrate strong principles like that.
It's Jon Con Leche. He's never let the facts get in the way of *anything*.
Guy once defended colonialism by claiming non-Europeans didn't know the importance of clean water. Anyone who knows anything about the Aztecs knows how advanced their irrigation system was.
This guy says diversity replacements. Lol. I have a whole idea about how all the black counterparts for the Justice League become Justice League mainstays.
On top of that, I'd imagine a good chunk of the audience (Millenials and younger) grew up watching the Justice League cartoons, which featured both Hawkgirl and John Stewart Green Lantern.
Yet somehow, I doubt he has any issues with a TV show from over 20 years ago.
Shock horror, the "don't change characters, just use existing ones or create new ones" bigots are still mad when any non-straight, cis, white, male characters are used. Just like they're mad when new characters are created.

Misogyny is a hell of a drug, ain't it?

Is this how you photograph black skin?
But no Superman should visually match The Boys

It's not though. There's movies about multiverses full of Spider-Mans now you don't need to do take 10000999000 of The Superman Origin Story.
Also, shouldnβt he be wearing more green?
