In addition to Bluesky, I am trying to spend more time on Reddit. Any advice?

Definitely check out the Tree Law sub. I find it fascinating.
Reddit is a mixed bag of many great and good subs, some mediocre and a few absolutely awful bat shit crazy stuff.
It's very much a net positive but takes some time to curate a good following-timeline.
And just like here, mute/block/hide anyone and anything that disturbs your peace.
Looked into it for a fellow Canadian, she's having things removed.
Owned by the Newhouse family, media moguls and Trumpanzee Republicans.
Bless you Mr. Elias. You are truly embarking on journey to the center of misinformation and MAGA. Don't get me wrong there are good areas within Reddit but many trolls literally searching Reddit for fights.
Thanks, t(R)ump: you set civil society back to 1860.
The same is true of a-political topics and subreddits. You run afoul of a mod's personal pet peeve they're super douchey about it.
For folks who make their living from being relevant or "famous", Reddit is more egalitarian and less useful, in my opinion. Reddit doesn't quite work like Threads or Bluesky. Famous people tend to enjoy it because of the anonymity.
I'm sure others will disagree.
Bluesky is so refreshing and polite!

I don't spend much there

Reddit is at it's best when you hit a sub niche enough it only has legit enthusiasts... drill down like 2 layers.

Create your own forum you can refer people to.
Good luck.
Although my left army buddy routinely checks "conservative Reddit" to see what's crackin
But I find it a huge time sink. So I look things up there, but don't post.
😏🍷
When I worked at Staples it was a "MODERATED" platform management used to identify "Undesirables"
Just my personal experience.

Also I'm not sure about the actual property of the post
You're in the hands of fate, now
A lot of subreddits are great, while some are unspeakably awful with unspeakably awful redditors.
Perhaps it’s not worth the effort.
There is a lot of good there, but there is also a lot of bad.
These days telegram and 4chan and the like take most of the bad. It is horrifying and traumatic to me that some humans can be so mean and so visceral.
Today I desire to wean myself off social.
ability to weed out junk by building "private" lists. I'm hoping Blue Sky will have this capability in the future.
A lot of the mods are on huge power trips and act in completely arbitrary, always dickish ways.
There are lots of ragebaiters and trolls who get off on downvoting.
The auto-mod algorithm is garbage - it "warns" and Reddit-jails you for random nonsense.
Lurk, but don't engage.
It has started to be a bit more balanced.
Twitter is a hellscape of conspiracy theorists, incestuous demeaning women, schmatzies, and dating apps.
I go on to troll and report them.
Reporting demonetizes them. 😁

Its not unheard of, that's for sure.
I'm not surprised if it's relapsed.
Big subreddits are basically glorified shitposting areas.
I definitely miss a few small subs, y local one, r/freeflight (see my profile picture) and so on.
But it's so easy to get dragged into political ones, and the constant scrum drove me nuts.
r/trees is not for trees
