My unpopular Star Trek opinion is that "Star Trek: Picard" sucked.

My unpopular Star Trek opinion is that Ezri was a better-written Trill character than Jadzia. Love JD but Ezri was someone who behaved like she was actually in that crazy situation; she was HERSELF while saddled with other people’s memories. JD was often JUST those memories with little of herself.

I'm a gonna be black sheep here. I liked show for what it was. A way to tie up loose ends & threads TNG & Picard era movies did not finish up. I always thought about what happened w/ Borg & their tech remaining hanging around, & who would take advantage of that oversight, how it might play out.

I absolutely hated it along with the rest of the season. It had a few superficial similarities with the Trek i knew, but none of the substance, atmosphere and spirit.

It was at its strongest when it was about Picard finding out that his decisions had complex circumstances, but it wandered away from that immediately. Somebody asked me what it was about and all I could say was "it's nice to see everyone back together"

That is an objectively correct opinion.

"Picard" is one of the worst Star Trek shows ever produced. The character on that show is *not* the Picard from the shows, or even the movies.

It rejects his calm, professional, diplomatic leadership in tough moral quandries for an old, dimwitted buffoon.

A main theme of the show is Picard's extended guilt over Data's death. Picard was a mentor and colleague of Data, but they weren't best friends. That was Geordi.

He's literally a passenger in his own story. The most celebrated captain in Starfleet relegated to be shuttled around like a delivery.

The show struggled to form a purpose for existing, ultimately resulting in a parade of wimpy, nostalgia bait fan service. I hated it.

Surprisingly modern animated Star Trek is very good. Lower Decks is just awesome, and Prodigy, despite (or maybe because of) aimed at kids is spectacular.
