My last chair was mesh and I live in GA, so in the summer, wearing shorts, I'd stand up and have mesh imprinted on the back of my legs 😬

+1 to Steelcase, Leap or Gesture. (Home office is a Leap that's coming up on a decade old & holding up quite nicely, work-home office is a refurb Gesture from https://crandalloffice.com/ that's also holding up well at 4 years)

Got an older Aeron from local Facebook Marketplace. I restored it and am happy with it.

The seat was easy to replace with a new one, and the hardware for the adjustable arm rests were easy/cheap to replace as well. It was a chance to try HM. I wouldn't hesitate to buy new from them in the future.

Echoing the steel case praise. I use a Gesture at home and a Leap at the office. They are fantastic! The leap is usually cheaper. You can probably find one at an office resale store.

Ya. And the US/CAD exchange feels like quarterback sack right now so I have my eye open for pre-owned for the high high end. I was looking at the Series 1 (new).
BTW, that Steelcase site makes me feel like I'm using an old 486 computer!

It's not faded or worn through at all, it still looks good. I've never cleaned mine, though there's a couple of grubby marks I might attempt to get out at some point.

Please try before you buy! I invested in an HM Embody and it’s nice but I can’t sit in it for more than 8 hours bc I didn’t need all the posture support it provides.

I'm trying to stand around 6-8 hours a day, so my (pretty good) chair from Staples is more than enough. Sitting too much, no matter the chair, cramps up every muscle in my body. A padded wobble board for standing makes standing my preferred option all around.

so I have a large new desk, but adding a motor from a standing desk. When I'm back training, too much sitting won't bother me as I'm usually out in the AM running so I feel like I log my standing that way. But I hear you! Good on you. 👏🏾

It really is about balance, isn't it? I feel like I sit far too much, but I also don't run or take long walks. If I did, some sitting time would feel really good. You do the opposite, so yes, a good chair would be essential! I kinda like the idea of the wobble stool, a nice in between perhaps?

it's not bad. I owned one for several yrs. I do like the idea of having something to lean back in to let out a long sigh! But I would consider getting an ergonomic stool as a secondary item. I almost bought one recently at an Ikea scratch n dent. It was gone after I came back for it, 45 mins later!

I have the Aeris Swopper stool and it's freaking awesome. I sat on one at the Prisma office a couple years ago and was sold. I also have a lounge style chair in my office for kicking back though.

Steelcase Leap. I had considered a Herman Miller one but opted for this since I move around a lot in my seat. You can find cheap Herman Miller chairs through office warehouse sales.

Yes and yes. I have lower back pain from sitting in crap chairs. This definitely helped alleviate that. Bought mines in 2020 and no regrets. It’s pricey but worth it.
