Quake 2 RTX's "atmosphere" is quite literally "You just stepped into a local carnivals mirror maze holding a cardboard box as a weapon painted with chrome & every light in the house is on while someone points a 10,000 lumen flashlight in your eyes"
Remember how Doom 3 was too dark? Opposite of that
I mean, there's a really cool horror game to be made out of a game that just doesn't retain a consistent world. Where the doors and coridors shioft depending if you're looking at them or not.
But I'd still prefer it to be crafted by humans rather than AI.
If you haven't played The Thing You Can't Defeat, for Doom 1, it's amazing. It requires general familiarty with episode 1's levels, and it's not necessarily doing the "door disappears behind you" thing, but man it's good. There's intentionality to the theme that an ai could never do.
And how will they even train the AI to mimic games that don't even exist? So far the only type of game they can create this way are the games they have shit loads of materials from (minecraft/ quake). But if you don't even have a game, then how do you train AI to create it?
They hope they can feed all games into it the same way they do art and literature, and it will shit out something passable enough to sell without paying devs.
he was subservient to meta for a bit but now he's trying to make his own startup i hope he actually makes something actually intelligent that doesn't just slurp up content and vaguely spit out slop but actually puts thought into whatever it's doing
what the fuck is this even supposed to showcase Microsoft? Is this like jingling keys in front of investors who know jack shit about either AI or vidya? im so damn confused
the strogg sent a disease to earth that makes them hallucinate enemies and hurt themselves and have really bad hazy vision like looking through a greasy, dirty fish bowl

Instead they're too busy killing off Tango and Arkane. Not to mention this is an insult to the great work Nightdive has done on Quake 2.

Microsoft has saved gaming /s

Ran at a full 1080p before the Xbox 360 itself even supported 1080p.
Let's even say that the researchers will be able to create a somewhat decent game this way that will play like a real one.
How do you distribute this? Do you have a farm of super powerful graphics somewhere rendering stuff for people?
SuperRTX 9090Ti Copium Edition?
Not sure what the gripe is here, its not like this is meant to be a playable replacement for quake
Seriously who the hell thinks any of this crap is worth developing?
*Sighs*
Quad carnage time? Where did I leave that railgun....?
