As I expected. Starmer quietly gets on with the job. When he's ready to say/do something he'll announce it. Can people stop with the constant criticism now and have some patience! Starmer isn't a knee jerk, impulsive politician.
Quite hard when Starmer is compromised & still doing deals with & being advised by Blackrock & Palantir. That is a conflict of interest. Palantir is a military machine, at the heart of the Trump administration & the genocide in colonial Israel
I just flashed upon a weird vision of a successful Europe promoting a "Marshall plan" type rescue to rebuild ( or...build) the social support framework in the US. Maybe throw in a few high speed railways...also.
We used to be reliable....used to....now we're that annoying neighbor with 3 broken down cars in his front yard and a strange smell coming from the garage...
Yes Commonwealth letβs stick it to the U.S! People are starting to realize that we have the best system of government, healthcare and laws in the world!
No, enough with the colonialism, why would you create something that is just includes the UK and and their former colonies. Canada needs to create better trade deals with the entire world. The EU should be our primary focus.
Then it's not CANZUK. Canada already has multiple trade agreement. PMJT diversified our trade around the world during his ten years. CETA is our trade deal with the EU which should be our main priority. The EU has a population of 450 million, This is where we should focus our trade relationship.
Letβs pray Starmer doesnβt wet his trousers, when trump threatens to raise tariffs on us, if the UK does business with Canada. He probably will though
Excellent! Send more maple syrup, ice wine, + wines for BC and Ontario, Canada Goose and Arc'teryx outerwear, please came we have some Tim Hortons coffee shops (way better than the crap US ones)β¦
What else should you send us more of Canadians?
It would have been nice to have heard that Keir Starmer had contacted Mark Carney and said this. The same goes with Ursula von der Leyen who made the call and not the other way round.
While I don't disagree, I think the fact that our PM reached out to pull Stormer back from bending the knee to Trump, speaks volumes about his influence. Stormer may still grovel to Trump but now he'd be breaking two alliances. Our PM is a smart man and a seasoned negotiator.
Probably not the right time to ask if we can return. It didn't take long for the EU to realise that having a land border with the UK is good for channelling goods out of Europe through the land border and achieving 10% instead of the 20%
Truss busy on social media saying carney did a poor job in Britain. I have heard it from two of my conservative friends. I guess she still has influence. Even here. Naturally I made reference to the lettuce lasting longer.
Turnout for federal elections is usually higher than provincial or municipal. 62.6% last time. The turnout in many ridings last Ontario election was lower than 40%. Let's hope that doesn't happen with this one. https://ianchadwick.com/blog/wtf-ontario/
Thanks to the Idiocracy threatening to use its military farce to impose its will on every other country, we might end up with a new alliance that consists of everyone not Russia or the Idiocracy Oblast.
I hope Carney can talk some sense into Starmer about the consequences that are affecting us not being in the SM and the CU because heβs not listening to anyone else.
PLEASE let them start accepting political asylum for disabled and elderly people preemptively BEFORE they gut Medicare/Medicaid. We all know it's only a matter of time before ppl like me can't access their vital medications and...well in my case, the pain will win. Quickly. ππ»
There's gonna be others, and they will quickly become refugees of anywhere that has a functioning medical system; Canada and Mexico most abundantly. They probably need to begin discussing now what to do with all of us/them that become refugees (bc American "refugeeing" is about to become big. Yuge)
I meant the EU. Each bridge that is tentatively built out toward us gets torched, it seems. To satisfy a decreasing number of murdoch inspired voters. Who will most probably vote for endlessly promoted fartage next tine around
Keep the faith. This is just a first step. There will be more to come. Let's just hope Carney gets the chance to use the well-honed skills he's developed over his lifetime. We have to vote!!
Yes, like that. Only with emphasis for rejoining a trading union with those geographically close to us. Removing a heap of red tape and, you know, saving the planet from wasteful food miles?
Iβm sure heβll have it sorted out for you by the morning.
Maybe you just need to explain to him how simple it all is.
And to not worry about all the things that need to be fixed after 14 years of tory mismanagement.
I ignore the media now, including bbc.
There are some very good sources to follow.
@warrenoates1.bsky.social is definitely worth following. He posts daily on what the government is doing, with links to govt sources.
Yes Canada is undoubtedly a great partner. Anyone who knows their history knows the origins of Canada as a nation but above all the sacrifices they have made in our support in two World Wars. We and Canada are a family !!!! π¨π¦π¬π§
Sounds nice, but the UK are the greatest supplicants of the US on this planet. From Tesla sales to US tourism, the UK are the laggards if not US enablers.
When the US started a trade war on Canada, the first thing the UK press did was herald the opportunity for them.
Small personal contribution. As a U.K. person Iβd never thought much about Canada, but I certainly feel emotionally far closer to it than I do to the uS. The US has always felt very alien - that was part of its charm.
Well that is a start. I personally do feel that if the EU and the Commonwealth all joined together as a super trading group we could manage to weather this storm.
Reliable Allies
& The United States is clearly not it! The instability, and insane actions of that man named Trump ended that possibility to ever occur again!
So embarrassing ~ what the Oompaa Loompa has done
He thinks they are going to come begging him except this time they wonβt. They will make deals with other nations because we canβt be trusted. Even after trump is gone because trump has been allowed to rule by EO. That means any president can do that and undo agreements any time they want
Make no mistake, this election is good vs evil, The liberals have positioned themselves as the foil to trump aggression to Canada, the conservatives, as conservatives do have positioned themselves as a dishonest party with ties to US and Canadian RW extremism, and will sell us out instantly!
I hope so @mark-carney.bsky.social .. I'm hearing capitulation & appeasement coming from Starmer's π¬π§ office.. He has zero experience dealing with the likes of putin or trump.π§π
While we in the USA get stuck with a Grifter! π‘πΊπΈ So where is Trump this weekend? Doing #artofthedeal to enrich himself and his golf β³οΈ courses. π‘πΊπΈ https://www.golfmonthly.com/tour/who-owns-liv-golf
I'm all for rejoin! Corbynites not so much. Keir is doing well on renegotiating with the EU, I'd like faster but he can only do what can be done & rejoining now is not one of them, I do accept that
Yes, here comes the UK and its wonderful partnership. Hopefully it will be more of the GREAT "commonwealth" advantages that make canadians have to buy fucking visas to travel to the UK.
Starmer trying to operate in four directions at the same time - EU, US, Canada,UK. Canada is depending on him for backup. He needs the EU more than they need him, but what about unity? He can't afford to sell out to Trump or he'll lose them all. One tightrope is usually enough - he has four.

I love a good slap.

I'd like to believe Carney.
I can't believe Starmer, based on his track record.
Canada First = America First...and we can all see how that's going.
It's not colonialism if all four parties are equal, democratic partners.
International unions tend to work best when there are linguistic, historic and cultural similarities
Itβs collapsing under its own hubris.
The UK needs to do something about their horrific conversion therapy human rights abuses to trans people.
Until Wes Streeting hangs the UK can go right to hell.

Europeβs solidarity is being threatened as we speak by the same far right morons we have here.
New alliances are indeed needed. But remember: the friend you have today can become your enemy very fast.
The US is not a safe place for negotiations.

And after the last American election.
There's just so much disinformation out there now.

The legal systems share the same common law tradition.
The language is the same.
Both countries have a welfare state.
Both countries have a parliamentary system.
In terms of defense, more Brits would be willing to defend Canada than anywhere in Eastern Europe.
Plans get thing done. They may need adjusting but no plans mean nothing gets done.
His opposition has 2 plans. Tax cut and see what happens and go negative on Canada.
Conservative have always be about fear and anger. That is not the Canadian way.
An alliance of the EU, the UK and Canada would be pretty formidable. EU GTi?

So to recap,
Sorry.

No "Deals" with an asshole who can't be trusted.
America can swim in it's own economic cesspool by itself
If he doesn't, he'll go up (slightly) in my estimation.

No wonder Captain Picard spoke with an English accent.
And they don't think exercise is a bad idea because "the body is like a battery"
Or just talk?
