the point of using violence to contest control is to diminish the opposition's will to continue to commit violence, and then to demonstrate that it lacks that will. where you suspect that the opposition begins without the will for that contest, creating it by shooting first is a bad play.
Up against an authoritarian regime where you have no other recourse, I would not put violent action off the table. Bad as it is, the US not there. And then it would have to a judicious choice, about effectiveness, secrecy. People shouting it out on social media come across as disingenious.
