I think Schumer's statement here was characteristically halting & inept, but I'm going to devil's advocate a little bit and observe the real tension around how many Jews felt the CUAD protests had treated Jewish students making it a challenging situation to navigate independent of Schumer himself.

It's not made up. Schumer did this. When he had the chance to affirm the 1st amendment, he threw an innocent man under the bus. Whatever you think of Schumer, good, bad or befuddled, his actions are not only getting Palestinians killed, it's likely to get us harmed or killed by this admin.
