Brilliant article. Americans are sadly ignorant how easy it can be to slide into fascism. I blame that on our political arrogance and ignorance of what goes on in other countries’ political systems.

We are becoming the fascist country we fought a war to defeat.

While it's impossible to sympathize with Musk and the AfD, liberals need to recognize that open-door immigration is NOT a winning issue for a majority of voters/people. Immigration can and should happen in a limited, legal way. People don't WANT their countries to change as drastically 1)

2) as the progressives in global politics seem to want, and there is nothing intrinsically wrong with maintaining a national identity, as long as it isn't fascist in nature. I truly believe Democrats would win more elections if we adopted more centrist language on this issue.
