What to expect when Trump is sentenced on January 10. Whatever the sentence, he remains a convicted felon & will have to appear virtually or in person, to hear the judge pronounce sentence.

Ok, I thought the law was not to be political? He clearly states that since Trump was elected by the people, he will not put him in jail for a crime that would normally get jail time! WTF?!?!
I would hope not. Seems like a decent judge. But I get it. And TFG should be sentenced. We've waited long enough. Maybe Merchan will make a statement. I haven't seen one yet, but I'm not tuned in.
When a jury comes to verdict in a trial the defendant is not convicted. They are only convicted once sentenced. Calling Trump a convicted felon may make for great clickbait but it is factually wrong. It is difficult to take journalists or publications seriously when when they ignore facts.
Never ever thought a convicted felon would be allowed to be president of our great country. There must be something constitutional that can prevent this.
There was a pundit who marveled that Merchan was the last man who had any balls. It looks like the presidential immunity clause has snipped those off as well… 😑
I find it amusing to imagine him on probation during his entire term. Reporting to his probation officer once a month, mandatory drug tests, community service, maybe an ankle monitor so he doesn't leave the house. And if he breaks any of it...
None? Can he not be fined heavily? I realize incarceration is off the table (tho I wish they’d throw him in until the 20th! Let me dream! 😜) but, I thought he could be fined &, perhaps, incarceration postponed.
Conditional discharge means no punishment. No jail, no fines, no probation. Absolutely nothing. At all.
It's just a formal closing of the case. Not even a slap on the wrist. He will still be a convicted felon, just without any punishment.
Again, it’s extraordinary that we will have a convicted felon for a president whose sentencing will take place only days before his swearing in. It’s an abomination!
When Judge Merchan addresses Trump and sentences him, this should be TELEVISED by all major networks and cable news as it is of historical importance to the American people. Trump will not be incarcerated or be under probation but this is the appropriate punishment he should receive as his sentence.
And as a convicted felon there are many countries, Japan, Canada, United Kingdom, to name just a few, that deny entry to convicted felons. Australia, China and the UAE are a few more. Trump is an isolationist because he can't go anywhere. The most disgraced man ever to be elected President. Sad.
The sentencing will be a slap in the face to the 12 Jurors who took 7+ weeks out of their lives and found him guilty.
Trump will of course use the impotent sentencing as further proof that it was a politically motivated witch hunt, and the media will dutifully spread his message.
Of course Trump will appear in person he will get all the media time he wants before walking into the courtroom and once again when he walks out and before he gets into his SUV.
Our legal system is broken, and Democrats allowed to happen for their inaction, and their lack of accountability. Period. We owe to democrats were we are now.
Whatever fine and other penalties assigned, is he able to hold off paying after appeals exhausted or will they, unlike incarceration had that been imposed, have to be paid irrespective of his being in office?
He is and always will be a convicted felon who has been found civilly liable for sexual assault and who fomented an insurrection. Nothing will ever change those facts
Why not incarcerate? Even a while to shake him up? Process his ass like any other citizen. He will be JUST A CITIZEN. Criminal skates by BASED ON WHAT. The People Demand Justice.
I didn’t t concede I’m one of the people. Why put on a shit show if he’s not going to be punished in anyway? What kind of precedent is this going to set? Absolute bullshit and cowardice for the judge not to sentence a criminal.
As a practical matter, an Unconditional Discharge, huh?!? So once again the white supremacy system worked in favor of one of its own! The so called justice system has failed and has little credibility
The law does not seem to be an issue for rich white men… I am thinking laws are a choice now. However, I am a rule follower so although I say that I will stay l”aw” abiding plus I am poor as f&$@
He won't be sentenced. It will be moved to Federal court after an expedited appeal, and he will pardon himself if the conviction is upheld. This is just a show to convince the masses that our system of justice doesn't favor the rich and powerful. What a joke.
He remains a convicted felon. That matters with people who have consciences, which neither he nor his followers possess. Which brings us to the question .. so what?
It is so depressing to see our judicial system thrown into the toilet because of this Traitor/conman/rapist/felon. How can we survive without a truthful judicial system?
And then what?
Oh…as always, nothing will happen to him.
He got away with small stuff when he was a child, the crimes got bigger as he got older with him inciting an insurrection in Jan. 2021 without a single consequence.
What do you think will happen now?
Big fat nothing. He’ll be in the WH.
Well that sucks. First it's DoJ policy not to indict, then Senate policy not to impeach, then Merrick Garland policy to leave it all too late and finally judicial policy to let him off without punishment because of practicality's sake.
And he doesn’t even have to show up in person. What is the point other than confirming yet again that he really is not beholden to any laws in this country. Sentencing will become a joke for him and the magats.
It is Not right! It is Not "just." This travesty of the system is complete & utter BullShit. Some individuals can engage in criminality w/o consequences and the rest of US can't.
The precedence of not facing accountability for each and every Trump crime will destroy our rule of law. And the 1/6 pardons- any American can claim if Trump & his band of thieves don’t have to face accountability-why should they?
Him being a convicted felon hasn't hurt him in the least.
And now, he will be an unpunished convicted felon.
Which will have the same impact.
I get the complexity, but I do no longer believe in the rule of law.
It's just a weak slogan, not a mode of operation.
In reality, it has been for a while. The disparity of punishment for drug related crimes based on skin color alone puts the notion of the rule of law to shame.
What if he decides not to show? In full contempt of the court - which he has shown time and time again. Does anyone think there will be ANY consequences?
Imagine Luigi announcing a 2028 Prez candidacy, delay/deny/justice, out on bail w/ passport, threatening all CEO’s, winning election (he would win too), and never being held accountable.
True, but no way around it... he's got away with another one... I'm thinking the rich men around him now are willing to pay for just about anything, including what he owes New York government and E. Jean Carroll... until they say SCRAM
Of course this won’t happen, but if I were sentencing him I’d have him do 1500 hours of community service. Specifically he would don an orange vest and pick up trash on the Cross Bronx Expressway in NYC!

He will simply walk out of the courtroom the same he walked in.

Congress broken
Senate broken
Judiciary broken
Police broken
w/ a Dictator on deck

Trump will NEVER do jail time
What a terrible failure of the Justice System
Restoring faith in it will take years of legal reform
I’m SO angry today

Can YOU?
There's no climbing back out of this.
Love those Republican evangelical family values.
Republican evangelical family values have always been a lie from the time the Moral Majority took over the party in the late 1970s.

Wonder whether SCOTUS will intervene and nullify the entire matter.
Now he will be an unpunished convicted felon.

I had been wishing for this ....
