It'l like when you peel paint from an old building, and you learn all the colors it once was, some of which were rather odd choices that explain the layer above.
B^U is roughly the emoticon version of the face Tim Buckley drew (draws?) for every character in Ctrl-Alt-Del, the webcomic John's poking fun at (it's a recursive version of the Loss comic that went viral back in the day). One time Buckley actually did a BTS vid where he assembled faces from parts.
